Backpack Program

Help Us Feed Local Children and Families

The St. Helens School District Backpack Program is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization operated jointly by St. Helens First UMC and Columbia Pacific Food Bank. The program provides children with food to take home for the weekend. All food is child-friendly, non-perishable, and easy to prepare. Delivery occurs on the last day of the school week to children who request it.

If you are interested in getting involved, please the contact the church office via the “Contact Us” page for a brochure. The brochure contains a list of food items that can be donated as well as instructions for cash donations, which are tax deductible and go towards bulk purchases.

The Backpack Program is indebted to the generosity of the St. Helens Lion’s Club, Market Fresh, and many other local service groups and churches.
